According to Chinese astrology, each year has a certain animal spirit. This new year will be the year of the Boar (or Pig). In addition to the animal nature of each year, there is also an element (fire, water, metal, earth) that accompanies the year.
Mindless Speaker talks about the fact that this year is The Year of Fire Pig and what it may have in store for us.

We have a great book called The Handbook of Chinese Horoscopes by Theodora Lau and have been using it for the last couple of years. What I like best, besides finding out about my Rat sign, is how the little rat will do in the Year of the Pig! And not too well, it seems...
I find the Chinese horoscopes much more in synch with who I am than than western astology.
